Adobe Photoshop 7.0
System Requirements

Individuals who purchased Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for their personal computers (PCs) when Adobe first released the new software could run Windows operating systems released since Windows 98. The OS on which they could install Photoshop 7.0 included Windows 98 and Windows 98 Special Edition as well as Windows Millennium Edition and Windows XP. Network administrators could install Adobe Photoshop on Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0.

At the time of Photoshop 7.0's release, Microsoft had recently released Windows XP; since then, the company has produced Windows Vista and Windows 7. Users who have Vista must install Service Pack 2. As of September 2010, Microsoft has not made a compatibility patch for Windows 7.

Users who bought Photoshop 7.0 for a Mac needed to run Mac OS 9.1, 9.2 or Mac OS X version 10.1.3. Since the release of version 7.0, Apple has produced Mac OS X 10.6. The Snow Leopard Wiki website reports that Photoshop 7.0 will crash during startup on that operating system.

Hardware
Users who bought Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for a PC needed at least an Intel Pentium class III processor to run the software. Those who wanted to install Photoshop 7.0 on a Mac needed a Power PC processor or higher. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 required at least 128 MB of RAM to run on both Mac and PCs, though Adobe recommended 192MB of RAM for optimum performance. The version of Photoshop 7.0 released for PC would take up 280 MB of hard drive space, while the Mac OS version required 320 MB of hard drive space. Both PC and Mac users need a CD or CD/DVD drive to install the software.

Display

Running Adobe 7.0 on either a Mac or a PC requires at least a 16-bit video card, with optimal performance coming from 32- or 64-bit cards. Users of both PCs and Macs also need a color monitor capable of at least an 800x600 display resolution.
