CyberSosmed

WORDBND.COM - In the modern era and the current high penetration of the internet, the existence of social media (medsos) is commonplace for people.

However, do you know what the first social media name was?  Facebook?  No, it's not.  Facebook was only created on February 4, 2004 when it was first created by Mark Zuckerberg, assisted by Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.

So, let's do surgery together.

As reported by DetikInet, it is known that technology began to develop rapidly in the 20th century.  After computers were successfully created in the 1940's, scientists and engineers began to build networks between one computer and another.  This is what became the forerunner of the internet.

The earliest forms of the internet such as CompuServe were developed in the 1960s.  Older e-mails or e-mails were also available at around the same time.

It was only in the 1970s that the internet network became more sophisticated and could connect many people.  In 1979, UseNet users began to be able to communicate via virtual newspapers.

Then when will social media be created?

In the 1980s, computers were commonplace and social media was very popular.  There was Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and it continued to grow in popularity until 1990.

The first known social media is Six Degrees, created in 1997 or 23 years ago.  This site allows users to upload profile photos and make friends with other users.  In 1999, blogs began to be developed.

Launching Small Biz Trends, after the invention of blogs, social media began to explode in popularity.  Sites like MySpace and LinkedIn rose to fame in the early 2000s.  Likewise, sites like Photobucket and Flickr facilitate online photo sharing.

YouTube only came out in 2005, creating a new way for people to communicate and share with one another over great distances.

In 2006, Facebook and Twitter were made available to users around the world.  Twitter was founded in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey.

These sites remain the most popular social networks on the Internet.  Social media like Tumblr, Foursquare, Pinterest, and Instagram finally sprung up afterwards.

So, for those of you who are still in the 90s, have you ever had an account at Six Degrees?
